Cotton Lumber
described their plans.
"Modern farm houses are
designed to fit every climate. From the pretty California
bungalow to the hollow wall insulated, hot-water heated mansion
of the North, all kinds of weather conditions are met and subdued.
"Thus hath the winter of our discontent been changed to glorious
summer" —by these modern inventive architects and builders. While
house architects have improved the house, landscape architects
have improved the grounds and our state universities have improved
the minds of young folks to harmonize with the general farm uplift.
A modern farm home consists of house and grounds and life —human
life within and plant life without. Animals and birds are closely
affiliated.
The house is set into the grounds and shrubbery. and shines out
from its environment like a large diamond in a cluster of smaller
emeralds and lesser pearls.
Life is the sparkle which reaches out the hand of goodfellowship
with an invitation to advance and do like-wise.
The invitation is being universallyaccepted. With confident steps,
the whole American farming population is moving towards the happiest
home surroundings ever arranged for human habitations.
Farm houses, like clothing, should be selected to fit person, purse,
climate and occupation.
Some farmers need room for a large family. Others have social ambitions.
Sometimes a dairy is wanted in the basement, which requires a rear
cellar entrance of generous proportions.
A great deal depends upon the kind of farming.
This department contains a great variety of house plans, designed
to meet many different situations."
