Gardens were an important part of the bungalow era home; both
on the farm and in town. We tend to think of gardens a flower
gardens, but gardens were important for growing food then too. I
can remember growing up on the farm with huge gardens where the
family raised potatos, carrots, cabbage, and all sorts of other
food for our own use.
We have acquired a copy of Concrete Pottery and Garden Furniture,
published in 1910. It has 104 illustrations and instructions
for how to make garden statuary and ornamental works. We
will scan it one of these days.
For a little change of pace we are building a site about Garden
Gnomes. I believe Garden Gnomes are more of a European custom,
but they have become a common addition to American gardens too.
